Here is a wonderful chance if you’re ready to make the Stok Kangri high altitude trekke expedition. On the first day of Leh, the 9 day Stok Kangri trek starts. Acclimation is the essential part of all Ladakh hikes. This becomes mandatory especially if you are ready to go on Stok Kangri Trek.

The tour starts with a first walk to the village of Stok, which will definitely present the best sights of the village life before you. As Chang Ma is the starting day of the trek to Stok Kangri, you would be welcome to become enthusiastic about the nursed landscape. The whole trek passes Ladakh’s untouched gray countryside. Next objectives on the expedition are Mankhorma, the Base Camp and training days.

You will come to Stok Kangri after you have passed by several filled green spots and cooling water bodies. You must cross several glaciers and steep slopes up to the edge of the peak. Each day you trek for the dream journey to Stok Kangri an average of 9-12 hours. Upon completion of the journey, you’ll return to Leh and share many good memories of the exotic expedition.

What to Expect

Though Leh Ladakh is a cold desert styled environment, it is a unique place during each season. It is generally a barren land and has a low atmospheric pressure. Owing to its rigid climatic conditions and other features, tourists are required to certain necessary precautions during their Leh Ladakh tour.

Day 1 – Arrival at Leh

  • Climbing Stok Kangri begins with the fun and excitement of your arrival in Leh. Check in and relax for your stay. Sip on coffee and tea. Please note, as it is important to acclimatize to ensure a healthy journey, you are booked for the first three days.

  • Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2 – Acclimatisation and Exploration of Leh

  • For the first half, enjoy breakfast and a 3-4 hour acclimatic walk away. On the latter half, the famous convents around Leh like Shey and Thiksey can be enjoyed.

Day 3 – Drive to Stok Village and Trek to Chang Ma (13807 ft)

  • It’s one of the best places you’ve ever decided to walk around this region. Trekking in Leh may be regarded as living their dreams by some people. At any time, you may just feel right in the middle of the sky. This is a very nice day to enjoy a great drive and a fun stroll.

  • The day starts on a drive to the village of Stok. You will pass several exotic, beautiful scenes at the beginning of Leh’s drive. The road towards the village of Stok is an adventurous one with lush green trees and natural beauty. The summer weather is perfectly good. The village of Stok lies just south of Leh, and is renowned for its king’s palace. The king of Ladakh has recently crowned himself. In the palace is also a small museum of lovely and religious artifacts.

  • But day 3 is the day you go to Chang Ma. This could be a hard walk, and you can enjoy a snow tour. You want to stay here for the night, and the overnight stay in open country tents.

  • Overnight will be spent in hotel

Day 4 – Chang Ma (13087 ft.) to Mankorma (14200 ft.)

  • With 3 days spent on acclimatization, on day 4 and 5 you set ready to trek Stok Kangri .

  • The entire hike passes through Ladakh’s barren, grey countryside. From the change of trek to Mankorma, This day will show you the real beauty of ladhak and tell you why ladhak, known as cold desert, is a relatively easy trek along the river while walking through the 2-3 times small rivers, you love staying in tents.

  • Overnight for both the days will be spent in camps.

Day 5 – Mankorma (14200 ft.) to Base camp (16300 ft.)

  • Walk back to the base camp for a few hours. This camp is an exotic base for the night. It is located in an area of forest. This region has several lakes and streams with water bodies. The campsite’s top areas and views over the surrounding area can be viewed during the day. Gulap Kangri, Parcha Kangri and others are some of the most beautifulation mountains. In the base camp, you can also relax and make sure the team is ready for touring and trekking the next day. You’d have time to settle for the weather. This is quite necessary since in the coming days you will experience a drastic climate change and thin air and an oxygen shortage.

  • The overnight stay, would again be arranged in camps and make sure that you have enough warm clothes for the lowering temperature.

Day 6 – Rest day & training day

  • For trekkers, this day is a simple day. You would like a lot more time to walk around and know the place. It’s essentially a day to train for the next trek and to understand the opportunities and challenges. Your tour guide and your tourist guide would inform you of all the different terrain changes.

  • To go around the mountains you need adequate knowledge and experience. You may have to walk in the sinking snow in some situations. The feet will sink to your knees. It is therefore crucial for you to know about the weather and the circumstances. It’s also a day when you’d take plenty of time to get ready for the next tour. The night would be in tents again. Now the conditions that govern day and night should be known to you.

Day 7 – Base camp (16300 ft.) to Stok Kangri (20080 ft.) back to base camp.

  • You should now be well prepared for this big ride, after you have had rest for a day, that is the Stok Kangri trek. Early to start the climb, you should wake up. The route passes the glaciers, then reaches the summit ridge with steep slopes. This is a long climb, so you must be psychologically well prepared and mentally strong. For average climbers, it would take about 9 to 10 hours. More than 2 or 3 hours can take slow climbers.

  • At the beginning of the trek, you should reach the peak of the ridge after a few hours. The top offers a wonderful view of the region. You get a royal feeling because of the wide open area. You’d get a view to the North of the range Karakoram. The Saser Kangri and the Karakoram dominate the sky to the north and the Zansker is to the south. The night would be in tents as usual.

Day 8 – Base camp to Leh

  • The last day of your trekking journey would be Day 8. After that day, finally would be the end of the high altitude trekking and expedition. But you will see a lot of beauty and unforgettable mountain scenery before you end the day. This place will rejuvenate the joy of Ladakh trekking. When the day goes up, you must return from the base camp to Leh.

  • The return journey could be hard and care and accuracy must be practiced. The same day, you’d also have to cover your feet up to Stok Village after entering Leh. The last stop of the trekking is Stok village. You’d have to drive from Stok village to Leh. The journey will make you nostalgic for the fun you had during the last 8 days of mountain trekking.

Day 9 – Departure from Leh

Return with pleasure from your mountain adventure to your destination.
